What exactly does this label mean? N. was slightly offended (I think) when I started referring to my new landlord as “Cat Lady”. My original thought was since my landlord is older, lives a lone- with the exception of her 3 precious cats, hordes just about anything (specifically old newspapers), and allows the cats more freedom in the kitchen then her renters, I assumed the nickname was fitting.
However, after recent events, I’m left wondering, what constitutes a “Cat Lady”, or, worse, have I become one?
I was rudely awakened this morning by strange hisses, meows and bell sounds, only to find 2 cats attacking each other in my room. Through my sleepy haze, I reached for my phone to snap a picture once the cats, and my vision settled. I then proceeded to stumble out of my room, shooing the cats with me and went back to bed (this was at 6AM). When I woke again at a more reasonable hour, I went to the bathroom (stupidly) leaving my bedroom door open. Upon returning to my room I found, not one, not two, but all THREE cats just chilling in my room!! One, even had the nerve to chill on my bed…. Despite my uneasiness, I thought it would be funny, to again, photo document this annoying (yet slightly hilarious) situation. Thus, I’m left with the confusion of the definition of “Cat Lady”. Does the label simply mean “a lady who takes pictures of cats”, or is the definition more complicated. Is it someone who obsesses over cats and thus feels compelled to photo document every movement they make?
One last one…. I hope
